Today Mrs Eustache was teaching our class about First Nations hide scraping techniques, and had a deer hide here to give our students a chance to try it out!

ACE It!

Image
Today we talked about mistakes - how we all make them, and how they can be ok. We learned a strategy to help us deal with our mistakes - we need to ACE It! The first, and sometimes hardest step, is to accept the mistake by being honest with ourselves and that we made a mistake. Once we're aware that we've made a mistake, we have to develop a plan to help correct it. After we've worked on correcting the mistake, we then need to work to erase it by not making that same mistake in the future Students are going to hear me start asking the to "ACE It!" when they've made a mistake (and they'll certainly be able to ask me to ACE It! the odd time too...).

Welcome Student Teachers

We would like to welcome Mrs Sawchuck and Mrs Smith to our class as student teachers. They both will be joining our class on Wednesdays for the next seven weeks. The focus of their practicum will be on language arts, as well as getting a chance to visit different classes around the school to see different teaching methods, grades, students, and routines.

"Design a Room"

Image
All students at Barriere Elementary participated in an assignment where they had to design their own dream room. The assignment was based on the book If I Built a House  by Chris Van Dusen. This could be any room, and could have anything in it - and our class had a lot of imaginative ideas!

Parent Teacher Interviews

Parent teacher interviews are on Thursday October 10th. I would like to talk with each and everyone of you, so if you are able to meet that day, that would be great! It would also be beneficial if your student was involved as well for all or part of the meeting. A notice went home today with a sign up request for meetings that day starting at 1:00 and running until 5:00. If you are unable to meet that day, please feel free to contact me to make other arrangements for a meeting. Please see the schedule by clicking on the link to see your meeting time.
