The Great Canadian Invention Circus!

Image
We were fortunate to have The Great Canadian Invention Circus  perform for us today. Their goal was to teach us about some great Canadian inventors and inventions, while also tying it in to a circus-style performance. Their act included performances around balancing, unicycles, and lots of juggling You can find some more information about the group and their performance on their website .

Hip Hop Hoop Dancers

Image
We were fortunate enough to have a great presentation yesterday by the Hip Hop Hoop Dancers! It was a performance that combined the dance styles of hip hop and First Nations hoop dancing by Chancz Perry and Terrence Littletent. The performance also taught about cultural identity and racism through the two performers own live's and their ancestry. The performers used black lights and neon colours for one of their dances. You can see more from the performers at the following links: Hip Hop Hoop Dance Promo Hip Hop Hoop Dance Performance

Snowshoeing

Image
Today we went snowshoeing on the Terry Fox trail out back. We were collecting a river water sample for our science lab How Can We Measure the pH  in our Environment . For our experiment we used litmus paper to test the pH level of the water. A healthy pH level would be somewhere between 6-9, and we found that it thankfully fell within that level!
